The highest of high-end rental homes in Aspen are emptier than usual this highest of high-season holiday week.Luxury homes that rented for tens of thousands of dollars per night in previous years during the Christmas-to-New Year period here are not renting at their normal sky-high rates, those in the industry say. And some are not renting at all.The national recession has vacationers tightening their belts, real estate representatives say, and even the billionaire business folk and celebrities who previously shelled out big bucks for big houses and round-the-clock pampering are reining in their spending. Additionally, more of the people who own Aspen's prime real estate are trying to rent their places out on a short-term basis to make some extra dough.
