Pitkin County Real Estate Sales Plunge in July, ADN

ASPEN REAL ESTATE - Real estate sales dollar volume in Pitkin County plunged 41 percent in July compared to the same month in 2009, according to a recent report from Land Title Guarantee Company, while the number of transactions declined just 4.6 percent. About $74.2 million changed hands in July, for a total of 41 real estate transactions. Year to date, real estate sales are up 8.3 percent in dollar volume — to about $648 million — and up 2.9 percent in number of transactions (385) compared to last year. But aside from 2009, sales are slower at this point than they have been for any year since at least 2004. In terms of dollar volume, July was the first down month since February of this year.
