The Mission

To elevate the presentation and discussion of Aspen Snowmass real estate with timely original research, great photography and design, new marketing tools and embracing change through technology. I seek to generate a new level of client expectations and, in the process, upgrade the role of the broker to one of trusted advisor and marketeer. Nothing less.

Tim Estin
:
Tim has long-time family roots in Aspen and he has a life-time's knowledge and connection to the local real estate scene - it's history, geography, people and networks. As a broker for the past five years, he's already marketed and sold multi-millions of dollars of Aspen Snowmass real estate most significantly in the challenging environment of the past two years. The reader is encouraged to read his client testimonials and to request a presentation of his marketing portfolio for his successful and expedient property sales. He's ambitious, hungry and willing to commit his full creative energies and resources necessary to sell his listings.

Since 2005, he has authored The Estin Report, a fact-based widely read Aspen Snowmass real estate market resource used by sellers and buyers, attorneys, appraisers, brokers, bankers, land planners, developers, builders, journalist and others. He's contributed articles and comments on local and regional real estate issues in the Mountain Business Journal, Aspen Times, Aspen Daily News, Aspen Sojourner Magazine, Aspen Magazine, Denver Post, Bloomberg and Colorado Public Radio. This information and his weekly blog, "Aspen Real Estate Post" (Tim Estin's Blog) form the basis of The Estin Report which is a continually evolving , marketing and research platform for local and high-end real estate sales. The 3rd re-design of this website is in process at present.

From 2005 - 2007, he served as the Aspen Board of Realtor's Liaison to the City of Aspen. Before this, he was the Aspen Board of Realtor's (ABOR) Liaison for the extensive 2006 Pitkin County Land Use Code (LUC) Rewrite approved in July 2006 after a two year review. He was also selected as the only real estate broker representative of the Pitkin County Land Use Code/Technical Advisory Committee advising the Planning & Zoning Commission and the Pitkin County Board of Commissioners on land use issues. These volunteer positions have involved communicating policy, political issues, code changes, and their consequences to property buyers and sellers and to the Aspen real estate community.

In the 1980's, Tim worked as a market analyst for the mountain resort planning & consulting firm Sno-engineering, Inc in Aspen. He learned to ski before he could walk and went to elementary school at the Yellow Brick in Aspen's Historic West End. In high school, he was an architect's apprentice for his friend and mentor, Fritz Benedict, Aspen's noted architect for whom the Aspen Music Festival Benedict Tent is named.  With Fritz, he was an original member and one of the founding Directors of the Tenth Mountain Hut & Trail System (www.huts.org) between Aspen and Vail.

His father, Peter Estin, was Director of Ski Schools at both Sugarbush, Vt and Portillo, Chile,  author of "Ski the American Way" considered a ski teaching classic and a Dartmouth Ski Team Captain. He was also a New Yorker and Saturday Evening Post cartoonist in the 1950's and held an MS in International Relations from Harvard . The Peter Estin Hut, part of the Tenth Mtn Hut System, is named in his memory.

Laurie Darbyshire: Laurie is Tim' assistant. She's an Aspen native who after 12 years living internationally and in various cities around the US, returned to Aspen in Dec 2009. She holds an MS in Real Estate Finance and Investment from NYU in 2005 and comes from an analytics background most recently at Nordstrom, Inc. based in Seattle. In addition to assisting Tim with property marketing and administrative functions, Laurie contributes to The Estin Report: Special Reports and Quarterly and Annual Analysis.
