ASPEN REAL ESTATE – Two of Aspen’s older mid-budget independent lodges may face changes in ownership and possibly be converted into either more expensive lodging facitities or be replaced with single family homes.
The Mountain House at 905 E. Hyman, a 26-room lodge, is in foreclosure and facing a public auction on March 27th. The Mountain House Partners LLC owe $5.86M on a $8.54M loan from Community Banks of Colorado after purchasing the property in 2007 for $7.98M.
The Hotel Lenado at 200 S. Aspen St, a 30-year old lodge with 19 rooms and 9 luxury suites, was put up for sale in early March for $15.5M. It is being sold as a corporate or family retreat, restricted by the City of Aspen’s requirement that it be rented out during the high season period of Dec. 20 – Mar. 20th each year.
