If you want to find the breeding ground for American gold, look away from metropolises (two athletes were born in New York, none live there) and toward four other regions: Salt Lake City; Aspen, Colo.; the Lake Tahoe area of California and Nevada; and Lake Placid, N.Y….And if Winter Olympians aren’t from areas that once hosted the Games, there’s a good chance they’re from Aspen or other towns in central Colorado, where 16 members of Team USA, including gold medalist Lindsey Vonn, call home.
