As of summer 2015, this section has been discontinued. Reasons?
  1. It's been a ton of work to continually update with current articles in order to remain useful and relevant.
  2. According to the web experts,  it's not recommended to send readers off the parent site with a lot of reference web links. Those 'outbound' links created here benefit the landing sites more than this one, perhaps even to the detriment of this site...Not a good outcome for all the work involved, unfortunately.
I thought this was an excellent archival resource to keep readers current, informed and savvy from a single Aspen real estate web platform. That was the intention: to create a genuinely useful archival tool. Also, it's clear to me that the search and archival value becomes even greater over time - the archive improves upon itself just by adding to it consistently. But the work load to  produce this is significant  - I created a monster,  and I kept hearing the plant Audrey from Little Shop of Horrors  screaming in the backgound, "FEED ME!" as she grows and her appetite becomes more voracious and unquenchable the more she's fed. So. Good idea, but it can't be sustained at present, Capiche ?!If you'd like to see this section revived, let me know. If enough interest, I may figure out a way to get it up and running again.

This is a one-stop headline list and synopsis of archived articles and market reports on Aspen, Snowmass and other high end real estate articles of interest. It is intended as an archival tool for scrolling through recent and past Aspen real estate news stories to learn about our market. It’s updated regularly. This section gets more useful over time …the value is in the archive.

The article selection criteria is “How does this affect Aspen Snowmass local residential property, vacation homes, the second home market, and most especially high end, luxury real estate?”.  It’s a mix of real estate, finance, economics, culture and art, the good and the bad, what is of interest through one person’s Aspen real estate prism. As always, our local newspapers are the best resources for full up-to-the-minute coverage.

The annual folders below are categorized as follows:

  1. 2007 – 2015  “Aspen Snowmass Real Estate News Articles”  Local real estate news includes Aspen, Snowmass Village, Pitkin County, the Roaring Fork Valley, “Old” Snowmass, Basalt, El Jebel and Carbondale, Colorado.
  2. 2008 – 2015 “Luxury RE Articles of Interest” Articles on other high end real estate markets, luxury resort real estate, finance, lifestyle  and demographic trends of relevance to Aspen.
  3. 2006 – 2015 Market StatisticsLinks to raw market data, charts and graphs for Aspen and related markets provided by The Estin Report (ER) and Land Title Guarantee Company (LTG). ER publishes the most recent monthly market statistics 4-6 weeks earlier than LTG and concentrates on the upper Roaring Fork Valley – the Aspen and Snowmass Village residential market whereas LTG is for all property transfers in Pitkin County which extends downvalley to Basalt and El Jebel.

2008 Rocky Mountain Resort Development and Growth

In early 2008, Newwest Magazine and NewWest.net published an excellent five part series, “The Next Aspen?” by David Frey on the Aspenization of other Rocky Mountain resorts asking the fundamental question, is it good or bad? The fifth article in the series, “Part 5: Aspen, CO: Devil or Guardian Angel?” addresses that issue directly.
