Last year, the City of Aspen recorded $100 million of work done and 67 permits issued between January and July. During the same time this year, $171 million worth of work (+71%) was recorded and 82 permits (+22%) were filed according to Johannah Richards, community development administrative manager for the city of Aspen. The increase in development activity is likely due to the increase in single-family home projects, the community development director Chris Bendon said. “This year we’ve already seen a lot more residential development, not just small remodels,” he said.
