The owners of the 26 unit Mountain House Lodge, MarMax Haytel LLC, who also own two other mid-level Aspen lodges, the Molly Gibson Lodge and Hotel Aspen, have applied to the City to subdivide the Mountain House 12,000 sq ft lot into two 6,000 sq ft single family residential lots. After their review of the City’s direction on a draft lodging incentive plan designed to encourage lodge development in downtown Aspen, the owners say the redevelopment of the Mountain House as an on-going lodge concern is last on their list of options to re-develop the site because it’s not economically viable within the City’s parameters.
