Three Pitkin County communities lead the state in pricey real estate, according to the latest Forbes.com list of America’s most expensive zipcodes — and all three have moved much farther up the list than they were last year. Snowmass — as in “Old” Snowmass, with the 81654 zip code — is the
13th most expensive zip code in the country, according to Forbes, with a medianhome price of just under $3 million. Aspen is the next Colorado city on thelist, at number 20, with a median price of $2.74 million. For a median asking price of about $1 million less — $1.76 million — Snowmass Village is ranked 82nd (Forbes ranks the top 500). The next highest ranking Colorado town is Vail, in 87th position with a median asking price of $1.72 million. Nearby Edwards is in the 103rd slot, but no other Colorado towns crack the top 200.
