86 guest rooms will be remodeled; exterior will get new paint during offseason
ASPEN — The Aspen Skiing Co. will spend about $20 million in capital improvements for the upcoming ski season, mostly on an extensive remodel of The Little Nell hotel. The Skico is sticking with a two-year-old plan to remodel the 86 guest rooms and corridors of the luxury hotel despite the recession, according to President and CEO Mike Kaplan. No new chairlifts will be added at the four ski areas, so on-mountain projects are limited. The Skico will add 18 more gates that use radio frequency to scan season passes and lift tickets. There were 24 of the gates at the Skico’s four ski areas last season.
