The Pan and Fork Mobile Home Park in downtown Basalt contains 40 mobile homes on a 5.25 acre parcel alongside prime Roaring Fork River frontage. In 2011, the Town of Basalt and a non-profit organization Roaring Fork Community Development Corp. (RFCDC) joined together to initiate a plan to co-develop the park. Basalt chipped in $1.2M from its open space fund and RFDC paid the balance of the $3.25M purchase price. The Town’s interest in the property is to play a role in redeveloping prime downtown riverfront land as well as finding alternative housing for the park’s residents.
