ASPEN COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE – The Mill Street Mall property, which houses the defunct D-19 restaurant and Popcorn Wagon, has been purchased by a Delaware-based LLC for $5.1 million. The deal closed Friday, said Karen Setterfield, who is the broker for the seller, the Robert Barnard Trust, of which the beneficiary is Stanford University. The property was originally listed for $5.8 million. It was only on the market for 12 days before it went under contract on March 17.“The overriding factor was the location of the property,” Setterfield said, adding while some observers have said the building was overpriced, it does have an impacted viewplane because of the Wheeler Opera House across the street. But the fact that it sold so quickly is a testament that the local economy is bouncing back.“This is a good indication that Aspen is still a strong downtown commercial market,” she said.
