Four more lawsuits have been filed in Pitkin County District Court from prospective buyers of Viceroy condo hotel units seeking to break their purchase contracts and get their deposits back. The lawsuits, dated Dec. 29, were filed by Walnut Creek, Calif.-based attorney Michael Reiser, who is representing 19 other plaintiffs with similar complaints. All of Reiser’s lawsuits filed locally make the same claim under a federal consumer protection law called the Interstate Land Sales Full Disclosure Act. ILSA provides a two-year window for purchasers to break their contracts if documents detailing the layout of the property they want to buy aren’t filed by a certain time. Most contracts were signed at the beginning of 2008.
