Real estate sales were down 75 percent in May in Garfield County (which includes Carbondale, CO), both in number and dollar volume, according to the latest report issued by Land Title Guarantee Company…There were 43 transactions totaling $15.7 million, versus 179 sales totaling $61.9 million last year in May. Garfield County real estate reached its peak in July 2007, when it had $69 million in sales.May was actually the best month of the year in comparison to 2008, if only slightly. From January through April, dollar volume was down 76-86 percent. Year to date, it’s down 79 percent.
