Garfield County, which includes Carbondale and Glenwood Springs, real estate sales plunged 76 percent in dollar volume in January over the same month the previous year. There were $16.6 million worth of real estate sales, and 38 total transactions, a decrease of 77.5 percent. The average single-family home price — $525,000 — is up 17 percent over last year. The median home price in Garfield County increased 8 percent from 2008 and currently stands at $400,000.
