An Aspen City Council-approved plan to move a new Jewish community center into the Ute Avenue neighborhood is mired in a legal fight as neighbors who oppose the plan claim that their homeowners’ association covenants don’t allow the facility.With threats of lawsuits blazing, the dispute between homeowners in the affluent Stillwater Ranch subdivision and the operator of a foundation for terminally ill children, which plans on selling its Silver Lining Ranch property to Aspen Chabad Jewish Community Center, hinges on the interpretation of homeowners’ association covenants in Stillwater Ranch, of which the Silver Lining Ranch is a part.
