ASPEN REAL ESTATE – A group from Boston has purchased the site of the proposed Lodge at Aspen Mountain hotel project at the base of Lift 1A for $15 million, according to public records.ASV Aspen Street Owner LLC — which lists its address as Aspen Street Venture LLC, care of Alcion Ventures, a firm with an office in downtown Boston — closed on the purchase of the South Aspen Street property on Wednesday. The land in question has been the source of great community debate for at least the last seven years. In 2003, the city approved a development of 14 luxury townhomes and 17 affordable housing units for the 2.4-acre site. Shortly thereafter, Aspen Land Fund II, a subsidiary of Newport Beach, Calif. firm Centurion Partners, came forward — at the city planning department’s urging — with a proposal for a 175,000-square-foot full-service hotel. That proposal has been twice rejected by Aspen City Council (once in conjunction with another hotel project across the street). .. Meanwhile, vested rights for the townhomes project have continually been extended and now are good until January 2016.
