Aspen Times Staff Report, Dec 3, 2008 Aspen, CO Colorado,

The group is seeking $50,000 for the effort from Eagle County government. The Crown Mountain Park and Recreation District has pledged $20,000 in a challenge grant, Conrady said. The recreation district will award the $20,000 grant if the committee raises $20,000 from other sources.

The recreation center is planned for Crown Mountain Park in El Jebel. However, the special district that was created to build that park is devoting all its taxpayer-provided funds for that endeavor. A recreation center will require a separate effort with additional funding from voters.
