ASPEN REAL ESTATE – No word on plans for the mountainside site A representative of the new ownership group of the site at one time proposed for the Lodge at Aspen Mountain said they had been looking at several distressed properties in the area before settling on the lodge site. The site at the base of Lift 1A on South Aspen Street “is the only one we really wanted from day one,” said Mark Potter, co-founder of the Boston-based group Alcion Ventures, which last week closed on the $15 million deal for both the land previously owned by Aspen Land Fund II and its debt to Alpine Bank. He said his group has sniffed around distressed properties in the area — including Snowmass Base Village and the Stage 3 theater site, both of which are halted due to a lack of financing. “We’ve basically looked at everything that has come up in Aspen and Snowmass in the last 10 years,” said Potter.
