A new home under construction in Snowmass Village, nicknamed the “Jetson House” due to its futuristic appearance and very visible ridgeline siting, has locals fuming because it was not subject of Snowmass’s design review process. Unlike other subdivisions in Snowmass, the subdivision in which the home is being built, Sinclair Meadows, is not subject to design review by the 850 member Snowmass Homeowners Association incorporated in 1966. Sinclair Meadows was a part of the overall Snowmass Base Village development which was approved in 2004, and it includes 21 deed-restricted employee-affordable-housing units whose resale is deed restricted and managed by the town, and 17 free-market, single-family home sites. Recent 1/3 to 1 acre lot sales in the subdivision, Snowmass’ newest residential development area, have been in the $800,000 – $1,200,000 range.
