DOWNTOWN ASPEN – The Phase II of the Dancing Bear project in Aspen has been put on hold as the developer seeks a new construction contract.Dancing Bear “Mountainside,” across Durant Street from the Dancing Bear “Parkside,” which opened in January, inked its construction contract in 2007, when construction costs were as much as 30 percent higher. Construction on the luxury fractional residence project was suspended earlier this spring.Project developer Tom DiVenere said he has suspended construction and will spend some down time refining the interior design plans for the building. Once that review is complete, the project will go out to bid for new contracts to finish the building, hoping to reap savings from the reduction in construction prices between now and 2007.
