ASPEN – After a five year battle, with a 4-to-1 vote, the Pitkin County commissioners Wednesday approved nine new homesites on Brush Creek Ranch on the ridge between Brush Creek and Owl Creek near Snowmass Village.Landowner Peter Droste had proposed 10 homesites for the ranch and said he wouldn’t back off that number as they were allowed under the current zoning. But on Wednesday, he accepted the loss of one homesite in exchange for the commissioners approving another nine sites. The commissioners felt that the one homesite they wanted removed may have had more negative effects on the local elk herd.
