ASPEN – The Pitkin County commissioners tabled a resolution on Tuesday opposing a federal land exchange proposed by billionaire Leslie Wexner. He is proposing to trade his 520-acre Sutey Ranch in Garfield County (20 miles down-valley from Aspen, near Carbondale) for 1,268 acres of BLM land in Pitkin County next to his estate on the flanks of Mount Sopris. Sutey Ranch is next to a popular recreation area. As a result of the proposal, both the Sutey Ranch and the BLM land would be protected by conservation easements that would prohibit future development.
