"Last year was way busier than the year before,” said Tiffany Wancura, chief deputy trustee for Pitkin County.In fact, 2010 and 2009 saw more foreclosure filings than the previous four years combined. In 2008, there were 35; 2007 saw just 15; 2006 had 24 and there were 15 in 2005."
ASPEN REAL ESTATE – Foreclosure filings have topped the 100 mark this year in Pitkin County, and as of last week were just under the total number filed in all of 2009.There were 105 foreclosure filings in 2009; so far this year, the Pitkin County treasurer’s office has received 103.Pacing much higher than the number of foreclosure filings are those that resulted in sales. Last year, 21 filings went to a foreclosure sale, according to treasurer’s office records. Through August 2010, there have been 43 foreclosure sales in Pitkin County
— twice the 2009 number with four months left in the year.
