In recent years, the county has bought riverside plots including the old Emma store, the Grange ranch and Meyers Park, also known as Fisherman’s Park.
PITKIN COUNTY REAL ESTATE – The Pitkin County open space and trails board voted Thursday to acquire more than three acres of land on the Roaring Fork River upstream from Basalt. They agreed to spend $325,000 on the cottonwood-spotted plot, which currently is a piece of the privately-owned St. Jude’s Ranch. If the purchase is approved by the county commissioners, it would allow expanded access to the river, just upvalley and across a bypass bridge from the proposed site of a Basalt kayaking park.
