The Pitkin County commissioners (BOCC) are likely to approve a resolution opposing retail mogul Leslie Wexner’s proposal to swap 1,268 acres of BLM land near his Carbondale ranch (in Pitkin County near Aspen)  for his 520-acre Sutey Ranch behind Red Hill in Garfield County. “The possibility of such a federal land exchange and loss of so much public land in Pitkin County has never presented itself to the BOCC prior to this current proposal and request,” a draft resolution to be considered Tuesday states. “The BOCC does not believe this proposed land exchange is in the best interests of the residents of Pitkin County and that alternative means to preservation of the Sutey Ranch should be explored.”
