The value of residential property in Pitkin County, in total, went up at least 80 percent between 2004 and 2008. From 2002 to 2004, residential values went up just 6 percent. How much the value of real estate in Pitkin County has dropped since the height of the great boom of the 2000s remains to be determined, but one thing is clear — the property tax bills that land in people’s mailboxes in 2010 and 2011 will be vivid reminders of the go-go years.
