Fractional sales are no longer holding up Pitkin County’s real estate market, which plummeted by 52 percent in March from the same month last year, according to the latest report by Land Title Guarantee Company. Dollar volume was down from $99 million last March to $47 million this March, while the number of transactions is down just 15 percent, from 48 to 41.Aspen, traditionally the largest chunk of the Pitkin County real estate market, is still the most expensive zip code in the country, according to Forbes magazine online, which compiles the Forbes Luxury Housing Index to track the 500 most expensive zip codes in the country.
