A land swap involving more than 2,000 acres in the Carbondale area had Pitkin County officials weighing the public’s gain versus its loss during an all-day road trip Thursday to view, first-hand, the parcels in play…Billionaire retailer Leslie Wexner is looking to trade the 513-acre Sutey Ranch north of the Red Hill recreation area near Carbondale at the north flank of Mt Sopris to the BLM for 1,268 acres currently held by the BLM. The latter acreage splits Wexner’s two landholdings at the base of Sopris, the former Turnbull and Jellinek spreads, which together total about 3,400 acres. Some 700 head of cattle are run on what’s now called Two Shoes Ranch.
