Plans for a more affordable hotel option in the Snowmass Base Village are taking shape and gathering momentum with the goal to complete construction by Dec. 2015. The Aspen Skiing Co and Town of Snowmass Village are in negotiations on the the level of of planning review necessary for ythe plan to move forward at a more expedited pace as the the SkiCo has made its case that the overall SMV brand is at risk relative to other competitive ski resorts with an stalled Base Village builout and without more affordable accomodations. Skico has signed a letter of intent to purchase Lot 2 in Base Village from Related Companies but has not entered into a contract yet nor has any price been disclosed.

Proposed site for the Limelight Hotel at Snowmass Base Village near the base of the Elk Camp gondola. As envisioned, the ski-in, ski-out property would include 102 or 103 hotel rooms, 18 privately owned suites and three employee housing units in Building 5.
