ASPEN REAL ESTATE – A proposal that would change the Silver Lining Ranch (next door to the Aspen Club) from a nonprofit headquarters to a residential home cleared a major hurdle at City Hall this week.In a unanimous vote, Aspen’s Planning and Zoning Commission approved an amendment to the zoning that defines the site, known as a specially-planned area. The amendment allows the would-be buyer — KAT Ranch, LLC — to use the 6.5 acre site and its 18,000-square-foot structure as a single-family home. The site was originally developed to be a retreat for terminally ill children run by former pro tennis star Andrea Jaeger’s Little Star Foundation. The plan approved by P&Z would have the new owner allow the foundation to continue to use the site for the next five years. After that, the site would be rezoned as rural residential.
