ASPEN REAL ESTATE – A Basalt developer is seeking to become the court-appointed custodian of the Little Red Ski Haus, the latest in a long and bitter fight among the owners of the quaint and once-affordable lodge. The attorney for David Fiore, who owns a share of the lodge, filed the receivership motion earlier this month in Pitkin County District Court…Until 1999, the Little Red Ski Haus had operated for 37 years as an affordable lodge, with mainly dormitory-style accommodations. In 2001, Fiore and several other investors bought the lodge, and the group made plans to redevelop it into a fractional ownership model, according to an earlier lawsuit filed by Fiore. Fiore started a company, Western Peak, to run the day-to-day lodging operations “for several years,” the lawsuit said. The lodge, located at 118 E. Cooper Ave., now no longer offers overnight stays, nor are timeshare options for sale, said a woman who answered the phone there. The Little Red Ski Haus is available only if the entire building is rented, she said. A court document says the lodge is for sale.
